The Live Oak School began with a simple vision: to create a learning environment that feels calm, personal, and academically strong--where children are known, supported, and genuinely excited to learn. We are a small, teacher-led online micro-school serving students in Kindergarten through 5th grade through The Live Oak School Online Academy, with a specialized K-2 track called Acorns. The Live Oak School is intentionally small by design so students are not anonymous on a screen--they are seen, encouraged, and challenged in a warm, consistent learning community.

We believe children thrive when learning is both structured and nurturing. At The Live Oak School, we blend strong academic foundations with curiosity, creativity, and meaningful project work. Students learn through live small-group instruction, guided practice, independent routines that build responsibility, and rich learning experiences that invite discussion and deep understanding. Our goal is steady growth--academically and personally--without the overwhelm that can come from large programs or one-size-fits-all instruction.

The Live Oak School Online Academy (K-5) provides a consistent school-year rhythm with live learning, clear routines, and high-quality instruction in reading, writing, math, and content learning through science and social studies. Because we group students in grade bands, we can differentiate instruction while keeping the community close and supportive. Families receive clear weekly learning plans, regular communication, and portfolio-based progress updates so they can see real evidence of growth overtime.

Acorns (K-2) is our specialized foundational program designed for young learners who thrive with gentle structure and intentional support. Acorns emphasizes the building blocks that matter most early on: phonics-based literacy foundations, handwriting and early writing development, number sense, and daily learning routines that help children become confident, independent learners. This track offers extra guidance, repetition, and encouragement-paired with strong expectations and meaningful progress.

We believe learning should feel challenging but not discouraging, purposeful rather than busy, and joyful without being chaotic. We also believe school works best when families and teachers partner together--so we set clear expectations, communicate consistently, and support children step-by step.
